BIOGRAPHY

Sanjay Sinha is an MSc (Physics) from Ranchi University. Initially, he taught Physics in Tata College, Chaibassa (Jharkhand) for two years and had a brief stint in State Bank of Indore as a Probationary Officer before joining the IPS in the 1978 batch. He was allotted to the Manipur-Tripura cadre and placed in the Tripura part of the cadre. After initial police work in the state, he joined the Intelligence Bureau on deputation where he spent a majority of his professional career. While on deputation to the Intelligence Bureau, he did a posting in the Embassy of India in Washington DC. He returned to his cadre to head the State Police and retired as the Director General of Police, Tripura. As the DGP of Tripura, he had the privilege of receiving on behalf of Tripura Police the President’s Colour, only the fourth State Police to have been selected for the honour, from the Vice President of India in January 2012 for its outstanding success in combating insurgency in the state. He is an alumnus of the National Defence College and is a recipient of both the IPM and the PPM. He is currently serving as Treasurer ,PPF
