A panel discussion on “Developments in Afghanistan and Implications for India” was organized at the Foundation’s premises. The speakers sought to underline that India looked for security and stability in Afghanistan. Like the rest of the global strategic community, India’s main concern was that the Afghan territory did not become a safe haven for India-focused terror groups, who were known to have links with the Afghan Taliban in the past and had utilized terrain and conditions there for training, battle inoculation of its cadres and later for induction into the Indian hinterland, notably in Jammu & Kashmir. Prominent participants included Rana Banerjee and Gen (Retd.) Deepak Kapoor.
