About Events

Policy Perspectives Foundation (PPF) successfully organized the first session of its new initiative on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) on 28th August, 2025, at IIC, New Delhi. This series has been conceived in view of the growing frequency and intensity of natural disasters and the urgent need to strengthen preparedness and resilience.

The session was chaired and moderated by Shri K.M. Singh (PPF), with Shri Safi Ahsan Rizvi (NDMA) as the Keynote Speaker, and Shri Rajendra Singh (NDMA) as the Chief Guest. It was also graced by PPF Core Members Shri P.C. Haldar, Shri A.P. Bhatnagar and Shri Sanjay Sinha along with some few other experts including Shri. Anil Kumar SINHA, IAS (retd.), Shri. Dr. RK Bhandari amongst others.

In his opening remarks, Shri K.M. Singh traced the trajectory of India’s initiatives in disaster risk reduction, emphasizing the evolution of strategies and institutional mechanisms. The Chief Guest underscored India’s preparedness to address future natural disasters, including flash floods, landslides, earthquakes, forest fires, and heatwaves, while adopting a people-centric approach aimed at reducing loss of lives and minimizing damage.

Shri Saifi A. Rizvi’s presentation included impactful visuals depicting the rising intensity of disasters and climate-induced events in recent years, powerful reminders of the urgency to act and the value of every single day in strengthening resilience.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Shri A.P. Bhatnagar, who acknowledged the contributions of all speakers and participants and emphasized PPF’s commitment to advancing this important discourse.

PPF looks forward to organizing the next session in this series soon, continuing its effort to bring together expertise and collective action for disaster preparedness and risk reduction.
