A round table conference organised to deliberate on the judgment of Uttarakhand HC on Animal Rights: Implications & Way Forward’ was attended by Gen Vij, former VC, NDMA; Anil Sinha, former VC, BSDMA; Prof VK Sharma, VC, Sikkim SDMA; Kamal Kishore, Member, NDMA; Prof Amita Singh, JNU & G Sharma, WAP. The July 4, 2018 verdict of the HC mentioning that ‘Animals have a right to life, honour & dignity and should not be treated as property’ along with the recommendations of the conference suggesting appropriate amendment to DM Act, 2005 was forwarded to the Govt.
